VCI shrink-wrap for ferrous and non-ferrous metals contains proprietary chemical formulations that release an invisible, odorless, and non-toxic corrosion inhibiting vapor into the air. Molecules settle on exposed metal surfaces and interrupt the electrochemical corrosion process. Within 2 to 3 hours the interior of the package is saturated with vapor molecules and a powerful corrosion inhibiting layer forms on all exposed metal surfaces. Later, when the parts are removed from the packaging, the corrosion inhibiting molecular layer will vaporize into the atmosphere. Left behind are clean, dry corrosion free parts ready for immediate use.
